Seeking vote against decisions of August 05 2019: Omar Abdullah

Files nomination for Baramulla Parliament constituency; Addresses a stirring crowd at Baramulla

Pays obeisance at Ziyarat Molvi Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Khan Naqshbandhi (RA)

Srinagar, 02 May: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Thursday filed his nomination papers for the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency.

Accompanied by the party’s Treasurer Shammi Oberoi and senior vice president of J&K  Pradesh Congress Committee G N Monga, Abdullah filed the nomination papers before Baramulla Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa, who is the returning officer of the constituency.

Later he addressed a stirring crowd at the Prof. Showkat Ali Stadium in Baramulla. Among others Additional General Secretary Ajay Sadohtra, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Political Advisor to VP Mudassar Shahmiri, Political Advisor to President Mushtaq Guroo, North Zone President Javed Dar, Senior leaders Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Mir Saifullah, Qaisar Jamsheed Lone, Sharief Ud Din Shariq, Sakina Itoo, Nazir Gurezi, Showkat Mir, Sajad Uri, Dr Muhammad Shafi, Mir GR Naaz, Hilal Akbar Lone, Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi, GH Rahi, Javed Beigh, Irshad Kar, Reyaz Bedar, Mohammad Yaqoob Wani, Sarah Hayat Shah, Sajad Shaheen, Altaf Ahmad Wani, Farooq Shah, Nazir Malik, Salman Ali Sagar, Er. Sabiya Qadri, Adv Neloofar Masood, Salamudin Bajad, Sheikh Ovaise, Rabiya Wani were present on the occasion.

Addressing the people, Omar said, “The current elections are important as it is the first big election in J&K after 05 August 2019 when Article 370 was abrogated. We are seeking votes against those decisions. NC’s stand has always been clear on the issue of abrogation of Article 370.”

“We left Srinagar in a couple of vehicles but reached here in a huge rally. And seeing such a huge enthusiasm, I won’t be surprised if they postpone the elections in Baramulla like Anantnag. But whenever the elections are held we will be victorious. Voters have to decide on 20 May whether they want to send their candidate to Delhi or get Delhi’s proxy to Baramulla. My fight is not against an individual or a party but against the government in Delhi and RSS of Nagpur,” said Omar Abdullah.

“This is a reality. In the previous elections, I fought against boycotts, I fought against guns and I fought against the circumstances of that time. But this time, Delhi has brought together all political parties here to defeat the NC,” he said.

“The postponement of polls on the Anantnag-Rajouri seat was done to benefit the Delhi and BJP. Nevertheless, I am sure that people of Kashmir will come out and end their politics of deceit and manipulation once and for ever,” he added.

Later in the day he paid obeisance at the revered shrine of Molvi Mohi-Ud-Din Naqshbandi ( RA) at Nihalpura, Pattan. He was accompanied by party functionaries and family members.
