Only symbol standing against BJP is plough symbol of National Conference: Omar Abdullah

Addresses workers meeting at Pampore

Srinagar, 16 Sept: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Monday said that NC won’t allow wanton sale of J&K resources to outsiders.
He said this while addressing a public rally in Pampore, organized by the Pampore candidate, Hasnain Masoodi.

Party Treasurer, Shammi Oberoi, was also present.

Omar Abdullah stated that the promised job opportunities for the youth of Kashmir have yet to materialize. He emphasized that the number of unemployed youth in Kashmir contradicts the BJP’s claims. However, he highlighted that the NC manifesto places a strong focus on creating jobs for the youth, along with providing free education and social welfare.

He stressed the importance of voting for NC to safeguard the region’s resources, identity, and dignity. Omar expressed concern over the selling of hotels, factories, and mining contracts to outsiders, leading to the loss of thousands of jobs for locals. He also pointed out the dire state of the healthcare and education sectors, stating that only the NC can put a stop to these issues.

“We are in a battle against destructive forces that have caused chaos in Jammu and Kashmir. While we discuss political matters such as Article 370, statehood, and prisoner releases, we must not forget the daily struggles faced by the people that the current government has failed to address. It is imperative that we find solutions to these pressing issues.”

Questioning how many have actually been provided with employment opportunities by the government in the past decade, he shed light on the struggles of educated youth who remain unemployed, facing harassment and unjust treatment. He made a bold vow to abolish the PSA law to prevent its misuse in the future.

“The National Conference has made a solemn pledge to reintroduce free education up to the university level, provide 200 units of free electricity to every household, and offer 12 gas cylinders annually to economically disadvantaged families. We are fully committed to restoring the forest rights of marginalized communities, safeguarding the apple industry, and upholding the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Emphasizing the crucial importance of fulfilling these promises to bring relief to the people and ensure a brighter future for Jammu and Kashmir, he urged people to be vigilant and ensure their vote does not support the BJP.

Criticizing the PDP, Omar Abdullah pointed out that the people had trusted them in 2014, only to see them form a government with the BJP twice, ultimately leading to the destruction of Jammu and Kashmir. “Now, the same PDP is seeking votes against the BJP once again. It is clear that the only symbol standing against the BJP is the plough symbol of the National Conference. NC is ready and capable of fighting the BJP and steering Jammu and Kashmir towards development and prosperity,” he added.
