BJPs coming to J&K will spell disaster for people: Dr. Farooq Abdullah
Addresses series of public meetings in Ganderbal, Zadibal
Srinagar, 16 Sept: The President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Sunday cautioned people, urging them to reconsider voting for the BJP and its allies.
Dr. Abdullah emphasized that if Jammu and Kashmir were to once again come under the control of the BJP, it would spell disaster for the people. He went as far as to describe the potential outcome as nothing short of doomsday.
“The BJP has sought revenge on Jammu and Kashmir for being a Muslim-majority state by not only stripping it of its special status and downgrading it to a Union Territory, but also dividing it into two separate Union Territories. This move is unprecedented in the history of India, as no state has ever been converted into a Union Territory before,” he said.
He made these comments during his address at election gatherings in the Ganderbal and Zadibal constituencies. He urged voters to support Party candidates. Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Provincial Secretary Adv Showkat Mir, District President Ghulam Nabi Rather, In-charge Constituency Sheikh Ghayasuddin, and Media In-charge Saim Mustafa were also present at the events.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah cautioned the people of Jammu and Kashmir to be vigilant against the BJP’s tactics and its local supporters, both overt and covert. He emphasized the importance of not falling for their deceitful schemes. “The decision to align with the BJP in 2015 was a grave error that had negative consequences for every resident of the state. There is no room for further mistakes. It is crucial to identify and reject those who are working on behalf of the BJP, as allowing the leadership of Jammu and Kashmir to fall into their hands again would be catastrophic for the people,” he said.
“During the parliamentary elections the BJP’s animosity towards Muslims was evident, with the Prime Minister resorting to fear-mongering tactics to pit Hindus against Muslims. His divisive rhetoric included false claims about Muslims having more children, not belonging in India, and taking away resources from Hindus. It is imperative to stand against such hateful rhetoric and divisive politics,” he added.
