BJP openly trying to divide votes in Valley: Omar Abdullah
Asks people to remain united and resolute against such tactics
Srinagar, 11 Sept: The Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Omar Abdullah Wednesday said the release of Ab Rasheed Sheikh was a strategic move to divide votes, emphasising the importance of unity and strength in the face of such divisive tactics.
Omar made these remarks while addressing the people in Kupwara. He was there to support the Party’s Provincial President and Kupwara candidate, Nasir Aslam Wani, as he submitted his nomination papers. Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, District President Kupwara Qaisar Jamsheed Lone, and others were also present at the event.
Warning the people against falling for the division of votes, Omar said, “Er. Rasheed’s release is a ploy to divide votes, but I trust the intelligence of the people to see through this manipulation. We cannot afford to have our voices fragmented when our very identity and dignity are at stake. It is imperative we stand united and resolute against such tactics.”
He criticized the BJP for openly trying to divide votes in the valley by supporting its proxies. Urging the people of north Kashmir and beyond, Omar said, “Do not let the BJP’s tactics succeed. If anyone wants a BJP-led government in J&K, they should support AIP, PC, and Apni party. In the valley, the BJP is symbolized indirectly by a “Bat,” a “Pressure Cooker,” and an “Apple.” It is crucial to understand that every vote for these parties ultimately strengthens the BJP and its Kashmir agenda. Make no mistake – every vote for these parties is a vote for the BJP.”
Later in the day Omar addressed a series of public meetings in Ramban, Doda & Bhaderwah where he exhorted the people to utilise this opportunity to bring changes into their lives by putting their weight behind NC and India alliance candidates.
