Dr. Farooq, Omar Abdullah offer tributes to Late Abdul Gani Shah Veeri on his 9th death anniversary
Srinagar, 20 Apr: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah on Saturday paid glowing tributes to party veteran, former MLA Bijbehara, former Minister and a political stalwart from South Kashmir Khawaja Abdul Gani Shah Veeri on his 9th death anniversary.
Veeri represented Bijbehara constituency for three consecutive terms and was closely associated with Sher- e- Kashmir, said the Party President while offering tributes to the late leader on his death anniversary. “He played a pioneering role in the struggle against oppression. He was at an early age introduced to the ideals of democracy and justice and was deeply attached to the ideals of the National Conference.”
“Veeri Sahib was brought in the mould of Sher-e-Kashmir’s life and struggle. Strict to his principles and beliefs, he was a strong spirited person. His matchless contribution towards strengthening the party will be remembered for all the times to come. A statesman to his core, he stood for his principles until his last breath,” Party VP Omar Abdullah said.
Among others General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Advisor to VP Mudassar Shahmiri, party leaders Sakina Itoo, Imran Nabi Dar, Syed Tauqeer Ahmad, Altaf Ahmad Wani, AB Majeed Bhat Larmi have also paid glowing tributes to late Veeri sahib.Tributes will be paid in a public gathering to be held in Bijbehara tomorrow. The function to be presided by party VP Omar will be organised by VP province Dr Bashir Veeri.
